Oversee inspection staff to ensure timely inspections, organize and maintain inspection tasks in accordance with desired schedule developed by management.  Ensure the highest quality of products manufactured by Carolina Precision by performing inspections against customer supplied and internally stated requirements while working competently and in a timely manner.  Maintain and continuously improve documented systems within the overall Quality Management System as assigned.

Responsibilities Include but Not Limited To:

  • Supervise Quality Inspection staff and ensure timely inspections are being performed
  • Monitor job performance and delegate product inspections to inspectors to ensure product is inspected in a timely and efficient manner based on importance/delivery schedule.
  • Perform on-the-job training for newly hired inspection staff as well as on-going training for product specific requirements.
  • Maintain the complaint system and handle customer returns within CPT. Receive and report all customer reported and internally reported nonconformances within the complaint log.  Evaluate all nonconforming product for validity and disposition.
  • Perform root cause investigations and initiate corrective and preventive actions as required per documented procedures within the QMS. Perform effectiveness checks to ensure all actions taken are implemented and effective at eliminating the original root cause of the issue.
  • Communicate with customers/suppliers as needed regarding complaints, corrective and preventive actions, and audit results.
  • Perform first article inspections and final quality inspections to ensure conformance to customer requirements provided through blueprints and control documents prior to product release.
  • Perform secondary inspection points on in-process forms, when applicable, to aid in the manufacturing process.
  • Conduct reworks and re-inspections as directed for nonconforming product found in-house or returned from customers as directed.
  • Communicate all quality issues to management in a timely manner, along with recommendations for any corrective or preventive actions that may be necessary.
  • Perform internal audits as assigned by the Director of Quality. Perform, record, and track all nonconformances found during the internal audit process through the Complaint/CAPA process.
  • Perform raw material and product receiving activities from outside services/suppliers as needed.
  • Develop/Suggest changes to current QMS procedures/work instructions in order to continuously improve and streamline all processes within CPT.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years old
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and FDA 21CFR Part 820 requirements
  • Internal Auditor preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity of AQL inspection methods
  • Strong knowledge in inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, comparators, CMM, Keyence IM etc.
  • 3-4 years on the job experience in related field
  • Must possess organizational ability in order to set priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines
  • Experience with 3-dimensional inspection and measurements
  • Excellent visual inspection skills and an eye for detail
  • Good knowledge and understanding of engineering drawing interpretation with GD&T specified features
  • PC skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access)
  • Excellent record-keeping documentation and organizational skills
  • Ability to use ERP systems (Preferably VISUAL)
  • Able to bend, stoop, twist, reach, lift 40 pounds and stand on feet for an extended period of time
